Mental Health & Wellbeing Open Day
Introduction from the Organisers:
Dave Price and Steve Muggridge will be available all day to share information with you and take your questions about NFDC’s upcoming Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshops.
Mental Health and Wellbeing in the demolition industry is a key strategic priority for NFDC and should be top of the Agenda for all reputable demolition contractors in the UK. It’s OK to not be OK. This is a vital message to send. It’s our aim to ensure all demolition workers know that their employers offer a non-judgmental ear to listen and that their employers are equipped with the right information, resources, skills and abilities to help demolition workers at times when they’re not OK.
Is the Mental Health and Wellbeing of your workforce important to you?
Then don’t miss this informative and interactive drop in session, exclusive to Demo Expo 2019.

Introduction from the Organisers:
Demo Expo 2019 is excited to welcome very special guests from the Costain Skanska Joint Venture to our event. There is no need to pre-register for this event at Demo Expo 2019, attendance will be granted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so do arrive early as the organisers expect this unique networking seminar to be very popular!
Networking Seminar Synopsis
High Speed Two (HS2) will be the backbone of Britain’s transport network, helping to bridge the north-south divide, freeing up space on congested rail lines and improving reliability for millions of people using Britain’s railways. In order to clear the way for the railway and stations, HS2 is undertaking one of the largest programmes of demolition ever carried out in the United Kingdom. As Europe’s largest infrastructure project, the scale of the programme means that HS2 has to work collaboratively with the UK’s leading demolition companies to develop and deploy best practice, and ensure all our work is carried out as safely and effectively as possible. HS2 encourages innovation and continuous improvement as we strive to reduce demolition risks and the impact on our neighbours, whilst improving the health and wellbeing of our personnel carrying out these works. In this way, HS2 hopes to lead by example and leave a legacy for the industry that will be championed and further developed by major programmes in the future.
The Demolition Working Group consists of representatives from HS2, the Enabling Works Contract (EWC) joint venture partners, the demolition contractors working on HS2 Phase One EWC, the Institution of Demolition Engineers, and the National Federation of Demolition Contractors. Together, the Working Group is collaborating to push the boundaries of best practice beyond business as usual and is coordinating approaches being adopted on HS2 which will be shared to influence future demolition works. Representatives from the Working Group will discuss:
- The scope of the HS2 demolition programme.
- Development of the Working Group and the Working Group charter.
- Selection of focus areas and the planned outputs from the Working Group.
- Innovations already used on the EWC.
